Overview

HighlightAnywhere is a Safari Extension that lets you highlight text, enable copy-paste, and annotate any webpage. We built it with a simple principle: your reading is your own business.

This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles your data — and why the answer is mostly "it doesn't."

What We Do Not Collect

Here is a complete list of data we do not collect:

• Personal information (name, email, account details)
• Browsing history or the pages you visit
• Text you highlight or annotate
• Notes or annotations you write
• Device identifiers or IP addresses
• Usage analytics or crash reports
• Location data
• Any data transmitted to external servers

How Your Data Is Stored

All highlights, notes, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard storage mechanisms (UserDefaults and local storage). This data:

• Never leaves your device
• Is never sent to any server
• Is only accessible by the app itself
• Can be deleted at any time by removing the app

If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed.

Safari Extension Permissions

HighlightAnywhere requests permission to read and modify webpage content in Safari. This permission is required to:

• Highlight and mark text on the current page
• Enable copy-paste where it is blocked
• Restore your highlights when you revisit a page
• Export your highlights as Markdown, HTML, or image

This permission is used only on the active page while the extension is enabled. We do not read or process any page content for any other purpose.

Third-Party Services

HighlightAnywhere does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or data-sharing services. There are no SDKs embedded in the app that collect data on our behalf.

Children's Privacy

HighlightAnywhere does not collect any data from any users, including children under the age of 13. The app is safe for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this Privacy Policy, we will update the date at the bottom of this page. Since we collect no data, meaningful changes to this policy are unlikely — but we will always be transparent if they occur.
